Sintoukola Potash S.A (SPSA) is incorporated as a public limited Company in Pointe Noire in the Republic of Congo(RoC). SPSA is a subsidiary of Kore Potash and its core business is to facilitate the development of the Sintoukola Permit through mining prospection, research and exploitation activities, mining and processing of the resource and global exportation of potash.
SPSA has two subsidiaries in the RoC, Kola Potash Mining (KPM) and Dougou Potash Mining (DPM) which hold or will hold respectively Kola mining license and Dougou mining license. The group of companies as well as the mining licenses are governed by the mining convention which brings a set of protection rights to the Kore group and set the rights and obligations of the mining companies to operate in the RoC for the life span of the mines. The Congolese State will hold a minority share (10%) in both KPM and DPM and will be represented in the board of directors by one (1) director, upon the ratification of the mining convention into law. SPSA is currently preparing its infrastructure and the surrounding communities for the construction of the Kola operation. Construction will occur once the Kola DFS has been finalised and the raising of finance is complete.
SPSA’s logo represents Sabine, the Queen of Potash who is represented on a totem pole in the area where the company carries out the exploration operations. The legend claims that this siren appeared from the river to a French geologist, who was exploring for potash ore in the 1980s and that she confirmed that potash and wealth was indeed to be found. The geologist recounted this to the communities in the area before returning to his country. He died on his way home in a plane crash. Thereafter, the communities erected this totem in memory of both Queen Sabine and the geologist.
